We are nestled between the Montana Woodworks, the Amish School House and the Kootenai Kraft & Grocery with restaraunt. You are remote and at the same time in the thick of town life. One of my favorite things to see as I sit at my desk is a cowboy riding a horse while talking on his cell phone. Our guests are welcome to cook at home or go next door to the restaurant to grab coffee and a meal. The store has many of the supplies you need for daily life and they serve a good meal. Visiting A Place to Stay takes some strategic planning and preparation. Because we are so remote, guests will need to stop at Stein's Market in Eureka or visit the Kootenai Kraft & Grocery right next door. Our guests will have full kitchen access to cook their own meals. Stein's Market is a 40 minute drive and The Kootenai Store is a 1 minute walk :) The Kootenai Store also has a restaurant and a hot pot of coffee! They are truly the 'Breakfast' to our 'Bed'. They are closed on Sundays so stock up early! Our Rooms are very unique in their simplicity. Each room is appointed in blues and greens to reflect the sky and the forest that surround you. Using A Place to Stay as a home base you will find fishing, hunting, boating, biking, hiking, Glacier National Park, Eureka, Whitefish, The Yaak and Canada all within two hours of our retreat. A Place to Stay is perfect for Group Retreats or Family Reunions. There are 6 bedrooms with a large shared family room and kitchen. The home is over 4000 Square feet so there is plenty of room to spread out and relax. There is one bathroom on each floor, each with a shower. Our home is often rented by the Amish community. Our 'Season' is typically May through October, weather permitting. Check In at 4:00 p.m. and Check Out at 12:00 Noon. There is no central heat or cooling but we do have fans for warm summer days. There is minimal electricity - only 1 socket per bedroom, a bathroom socket and a power strip to charge your electronics. Plug in the Christmas lights as a night light. There are two other bedrooms, each with two Queen beds. There is a smart TV for streaming shows/movies. There is a good selection of free shows/movies. For paid shows/movies, please use your own streaming subscription. There are 3 desks each with a monitor for doing remote work. One can use WIFI or direct connect to the router. There is also a printer/copier. The full house, patio and backyard are available to guests. The garage is not currently available. The house is near the end of Nelson road, so basically like a quiet cul-de-sac without through traffic. Other things to note There are animals like deer in the area.

This lovely home is a beautiful, new Amish log cabin. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 3-stories, a roomy 2,800 square feet, plus extra sleeping areas. It is located by the Tobacco River next to the scenic Old Pidgeon Bridge. Situated off Highway 37, the cabin is approximately 4 miles west of Eureka, Montana. It is very close to The Wilderness Club, Montana’s #1 golf club as rated by Golfweek magazine. A Rails to Trails hiking and biking trail crosses the Pidgeon Bridge right in front of the lodge and continues on to the town of Rexford through the Kootenai National Forest. One may also fish or float the Tobacco River which runs beside the cabin. It is a very short drive to the beautiful Lake Koocanusa. The Rexford public boat ramp and public beach are 3.5 miles away, or visit Abayance Bay marina, restaurant, and bar which is only 4 miles away. The kitchen boasts black granite and lovely custom-built knotty hickory cabinets and island. You’ll find all the amenities including refrigerator, range, microwave, dishwasher, and pantry. The kitchen flows into the dining room which holds a lovely custom-built dining table with four chairs. The adjacent living room has a couch with two recliners, two swivel chairs, a wood-burning stove on a beautiful rock hearth, and large glass windows that overlook Kootenai Forest and the lovely river below. The view includes a large open space where you will often see deer feeding or even crossing the Pidgeon Bridge. French doors lead from the living room into a large screened porch. The porch includes a patio table with six comfortable chairs, a gas BBQ grill, and a twin bed – which will become your favorite spot in the house! The second floor of the house is dedicated to the master suite. The master bedroom is furnished with Amish-built log furniture with rustic accents. It hosts a king-sized bed, shower, and a vintage claw-foot tub. This area includes a coffee and tea bar, just what you need for enjoying the small covered deck which extends off of the master suite. The deck is a perfect place to wake up to the sounds of the river below. The second bedroom is on the main floor. It has a queen-sized, Amish-built log bed. This room includes a glass door that opens onto its own deck and garden area, complete with bird feeder. This bedroom is located next to the main floor restroom which contains a shower and stacked washer/dryer. The lower level is a bright, open, daylight basement with a large rec room. This is also the location of the third bedroom, a private space with a California king bed. You will also find a tea room facing the large glass patio doors that open onto the deck which is just above the river. About 25 feet from the main cabin there is a small one-room log cabin. This cabin contains a table and two chairs and a couch that converts into a bed. There is no bathroom in the small cabin but its proximity to the main house makes the restrooms there very accessible. This little cabin would be a great spot for young adults or a quiet retreat for those seeking solitude. There are TVs without reception equipped with DVD players in the master and second bedroom, as well as the living room. You won’t want to use them though as every area of the house is permeated with the relaxing burble of the river flowing by. There are so many ways to play in the nearby area, and so many ways to relax at this home, you won’t want for anything else! There is no lifeguard on duty so swim at your own risk. Our buffalo herd can often be seen from the house. We usually have about 50 head of buffalo and you can sometimes hear their thundering hooves as they run. The baby buffalo are born in May~June, and they are sooo adorable! It is a 5 minute drive to Lake Koocanusa and Eureka where there are many shops, golf courses, restaurants and bars. It is also just 10 minutes to the Canadian Border, 50 minutes to Whitefish or 2 hours to Glacier National Park.

Water in campground is non-potable and toilet is portable outhouse. Basic soaps and shampoo provided. Great opportunity to unplug for a night and get back in touch with nature.
